New transaction model
In addition to simple Income, Expense and Transfer transactions, you can now create more complex split transactions. For example, you can have many accounts and many categories together involved in a single split transaction, also called an advanced transaction.
Transaction Schedules
With version 3, you can now create recurring (scheduled) transactions that are generated automatically at a preset time or on demand at any time. By default, transactions generated by a transaction schedule will appear underlined in their respective transaction list until marked as accepted.
Transaction Templates
You can now set transaction templates that you can then use to quickly create transactions that recur at irregular intervals such as a dinner at your favorite restaurant.
Budget Projections
In previous versions of Account Xpress, budget figures were entered as averages (i.e. so much per month for this, so much per week for that, etc.). While the 'average' method of entering budget figures still exists in version 3, a new and more accurate method was also implemented.
Actual versus Budget comparisons
Version 3 now has some lists and reports for you to see how your budget projections and average budget compare to your actual income and expenses.
Additional budget category levels
Budget categories are no longer limited to two levels. Also, budget sub-categories no longer need to be of the same type as their parent category; an income category can have some expense sub-categories and vice-versa. For example, under your Salary income category, you can put your salary deductions (expenses) sub-categories.
Multiple currencies
Version 3 provides support for up to 150 different currencies. Currency conversion rates can be downloaded directly from the Internet.
Password protection
Account Xpress files can now be password protected and encrypted with a 128-bit encryption to protect the confidentiality of your data.
Sub-Accounts
In Account Xpress version 3, accounts can now have sub-accounts. This can be useful for example when a credit card is shared among many members of the family, each member being responsible for their respective spending. Sub-accounts can also be useful for putting some money aside until a certain amount is reached, to take a vacation for example.
Import/ Export
Version 3 can import from and export to Quicken Interchange files (qif), and can import from Open Financial Exchange files (ofx and qfx). You can also copy the entries from any list in the program to the clipboard for pasting into other software such as Word or Excel.
Merging budget categories or payees
With version 3 you now easily merge together two budget categories or two payees at any time.
Click-and-drag operation
Budget categories and payees can be re-located in the tree view with simple click-and-drag operations. Transaction split items can also be moved from one budget category to another or from one payee to another in the same way.
Two groups of payees
To make it easier to find a payee in a list, the payees are now divided into two groups in version 3, the Regular Payees and the Occasional Payees.
File backup
With version 3, you can have your financial data file(s) backed up regularly using the new automatic backup feature.
